Important Update - Coronavirus (COVID19) Availability, Shipping & Pricing Fluctuations

April 2, 2020 Statement from Spectrum Chemical

Spectrum is committed to finding sources for personal protective equipment (PPE) and other important products during the COVID-19 crisis. As demand continues to rise for many items, longer lead times, partially filled orders or even cancellations may occur. Furthermore, as we identify alternative sources for these scarce supplies, our acquisition costs and delivery times are directly affected. The result of all these challenges is that availability, prices and delivery dates to our customers will fluctuate.

Thank you for your patience as we work to fill the supply chain with these important products. Like you, we are hoping that the current market conditions will return to normal soon.

Important Update - Coronavirus (COVID19) Spectrum "Essential Business" Statement

March 25, 2020 Statement from Spectrum Chemical

RE: Spectrum Chemical Mfg Corp and Spectrum Pharmacy Products are Essential Suppliers to the health care industry
(Download this statement as a PDF)

To whom It may concern:

A number of state governors, including those from California, New York, New Jersey, and more each day, have announced “stay-at-home” mandates for all citizens and all non-essential businesses. Spectrum has consulted with government agencies and attorneys to confirm that we are classified as an Essential business, permitted to remain open to serve customers during this crisis.

Spectrum is considered Essential because of the chemicals and protective gear that we provide to pharmacies, hospitals, R&D centers, government agencies and even parts of the armed services.  We need to remain operational to serve these customers and impact lives.

Much uncertainty exists around how the coronavirus will progress in the coming weeks and the impact it will have on all of us.  During this time, Spectrum leadership will continue to take aggressive measures to ensure the safety of our employees, customers and vendors.

Sincerely

Russell Kneipp
Chief Operating Officer
Spectrum Chemical Mfg. Corp.

Important Update - Coronavirus (COVID19) New CDC Guidelines

March 20, 2020 Statement from Spectrum Chemical

Today, the Laboratory Professionals of America (LPA) organization hosted a conference call in partnership with the National Association of Manufacturers and the Centers for Disease Control. The purpose of the call was to address the latest CDC guidance for businesses, families and local communities and to share an industry leading company's approach to managing their business during the coronavirus pandemic.

To the participants' surprise, the live conference call was joined by Vice President, Mike Pence, who was directed by President Trump on February 27, 2020 to head up the US Government's coronavirus task force. Vice President Pence reiterated the importance of embracing both the CDC's and local authorities' recommendations, and of communicating these measures to employees, suppliers, vendors. Secondly, he made a call-to-action for suppliers of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers, especially given the new allowance for N95 industrial masks (see link below) to be used by health care workers to prevent spread of coronavirus.

In addition to the Vice President's participation, other presenters emphasized the following web pages and guidance documents from the White House and the CDC:
Spectrum will continue to monitor the situation and to share important updates on our landing page. We will remain open during the coronavirus pandemic and will continue to work with our supply chain partners to meet the surge in market demand for many personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control products, plus many other important products affected by global supply chain disruptions.

Important Update - Coronavirus (COVID19) Hand Sanitizer

March 17, 2020 Statement from Spectrum Chemical

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020. On Friday, March, 13, 2020, President Trump declared the pandemic a national emergency. Part of the President's announcement enlisted support from major retailers and supply chain companies who will participate in this combined public and private effort to dampen the impact of the pandemic.

One of the personal care items receiving high demand is hand sanitizer. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued guidance to compounders for the temporary compounding of certain alcohol-based hand sanitizer products. The official guidance document is intended to provide answers to the many queries compounders have submitted to the FDA during this national emergency.

Suggested ingredients as per the FDA temporary guidance:

(Isopropyl alcohol)
IS115 - Isopropyl Alcohol, 99 Percent, USP, JP

(Hydrogen peroxide)
HY110 - Hydrogen Peroxide Topical Solution, USP

(Glycerol, synonym Glycerin)
G1015 - Glycerin, Synthetic, USP, EP, BP, JP
G1016 - Glycerin, Natural, USP, EP, BP

You may purchase any of the above products online from our current inventory, or work with your Spectrum sales rep for assistance with product availability.

Important Update - Coronavirus (COVID19) Supply Chain Disruption

February 13, 2020 Statement from Spectrum Chemical

Recent developments regarding the Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) have created large surges in market demand for many PPE and infection control products. Spectrum has seen a tremendous spike in order volumes for these specific product categories, and we are working to provide product solutions for our customers.

We are in the process of communicating with our manufacturer partners to understand their capacity to keep up with the demand. Some partners have exhausted their inventory and as a course of action have stopped taking on backorders until their production lines catch up with current demand. Others have allocated smaller quantities to try and meet at least some needs. We will continue to work with our partners in order to meet current demands; however, longer lead times, partially filled orders or even cancellations may occur.

Impacted Categories: N95 masks, surgical masks, regular masks, respirators, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, isolation gowns, gloves, and other infection control categories.

Please reach out and work with your Spectrum sales rep for assistance with product availability. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
